This weekend sees the second edition of the Woodscôte Festival return to the cliffs above Biarritz’s storied Côte des Basques, carrying forward the renegade spirit that defined its debut. Dreamed up by the original minds behind the cult BTZ Downhill collective – now with official backing from city hall, the three-day gathering once again fuses surf, skate, and all-live music (no DJs allowed). Festivities kick off Friday evening with a downhill race peppered with unexpected obstacles, rolling into a weekend of beer drenched revelry by the sea. A quick insight on the agenda from the man himself:

“We’re doing our best to stay core, different, and full-send all the way. 2025 is no exception. Here’s what’s up…

SKATE

Prize money: €4000
We’re reconstructing the legendary Grande Plage stairs… at Côte des Basques. Yeah, they told us it’s forbidden to skate Grande Plage? No problem, we’ll build the spot ourselves. Nothing can stop us.

SURF

Prize money: €2000
Surfing only OG boards from the ALTO PRO AM era. Think 6’2 to 6’6, late ‘90s/early 2000s style: narrow, thin, and full rocker.
Winners get paid straight in the water : a suited “banker” on a jet-ski handing out plastified cash. No joke.

MUSIC

This year: zero DJ sets. We’re going 100% live with 17 bands taking the stage.
From 2pm–6pm, it’s an open jam: anyone can come express themselves, no ego, just energy.

ART

Sculptures, painting, dance, participative walls : everyone is welcome to create.
A massive vintage market too, with 20+ stores and indie makers.

This ain’t your average comp. This is Woodscote: raw, real, rebellious, and ridiculously fun.”
