And out of bitterness. And out of fun. VOL IV is at the printers and ready for christening on Saturday.
Why?
Pay per view. Parking fees. Blink 182. Companies reporting +30% revenue increases then slashing grass root activations. Management without the faintest clue as to how the world out of their bubble of the last ‘Pro Junior’ in Shitsville actually looks. Or who or what their consumers actually look like. Or how to engage with them. Marketing execs aspiring to sell ‘globally’ to 21 year olds whilst nearing retirement age themselves. Go to Market. Consumer profiling. Quarterly reviews. WIPs. Early Adopters. The ‘eternal 19 year old’. Trend Forecasting. I mean, the WSL Marketing Manager can’t screw her fins in the right way round. Come on.
Do you feel engaged?
We thought not.
So here we are. And where are we? The infamous Quik Pro. And what better way to celebrate the nightmare that is parking around the event site by making another magazine.
And to celebrate the fact, we will be throwing party with beers and everything. Starting Saturday at 7pm outside our spiritual home, we will be screening new short films from Dion Agius, Chippa Wilson and Brendon Gibbens as part of the LACERTILIA tour.
Then, with inhibitions loosened we shall roll on to our favourite bar, Coolin à la Plage. There will be boys, there will be girls, there will be Mojitos, it will be fun.
Featuring: Craig Anderson, Evan Mock, Stephanie Gilmore, Dion Agius, Karl Berglind, Leo Romero, Chewy Cannon, John Respondek, Morgan Maassen, Lukas Gansterer, Maria Pratts, Brendon Gibbens, Nate Tyler, Creed McTaggard and more.
On Location in: New Zealand, Helsinki, Barcelona, Australia, Sweden, Copenhagen, London, Berlin, Amsterdam and South Africa.
Supported by NIXON, GLOBE, MONSTER, OCTOPUS AND EPØKHE.
Music on site by Clement Froissart, later at Coolin by Binary Sound.
